Require

　　to need something; to depend on somebody or something 需要；有賴于 [動詞]

　　1. These pets require a lot of care and attention.

　　這些寵物需要悉心照料。

　　2. Please call if you require assistance.

　　如果需要幫忙，請打電話。

　　3. This job will require a lot of hard work.

　　這項工作需要十分努力才能做好。

　　to make somebody do or have something, especially because it is necessary according to a particular law or set of rules  要求，規(guī)定，命令 [動詞]

　　1. They require that I should go at once.

　　他們要求我立刻去。

　　2. Students are required to attend classes.

　　學生必須按規(guī)定上課。

　　3. The wearing of seat belts is required by law.

　　法律規(guī)定必須要系安全帶。

　　Acquire

　　to gain something by your own efforts or behavior  通過自己的努力獲得 [動詞]

　　1. She has acquired a good knowledge of English.

　　她英語已經(jīng)學得很好了。

　　2. We should try to acquire good habits.

　　我們應該努力養(yǎng)成良好的習慣。

　　3. It’s important to acquire a foreign language in modern world.

　　現(xiàn)代社會掌握一門外語很重要。

　　【注意】

　　require和acquire發(fā)音和拼寫相似，極易混淆。雖然同為動詞，但是詞義有很大不同。

　　require（re+quire）：需要，要求，規(guī)定

　　acquire（ac+quire）：獲得，取得，得到
